It's still a thing, it's only happened to me once. I only go for tarot cards, I just gave up on the eggs because of this issue.

Yes, but it's only particular trees, and ~half of the eggs aren't even in trees; duck, goose, loon, vulture.

Yep, but only in some trees. My most recent issue is the metal detector not working. No idea how a game that's been out for years now keeps getting weird glitches.

There is only 1 or 2 spots that are bugged like that. One of the bugged spots in in the muddy swamp area just north of Saint Denis. If a spot is bugged, just go do others. Every 12-24 hours if I remember correctly, those items change location. So the one in the bugged spot will be available another time very soon, like when you get back on the next day for example.
