Game is crashing using any DLSS version with newest nvidia driver 572.16. Anyone else having this issue?

I saw someone report it on the nvidia subreddit page. Haven’t had the time to test myself today but at least one other has the issue with this driver. Might want to see if rolling back helps. I would also try other games, see if you have issues outside of RDR2
Works fine for me

You may have to delete all the old cache files first, works fine for me.

Edit: Nevermind, stopped working fine and crashed. Definitely something wrong with these new drivers, reverted back to 566.14

Thank you! Do you know how to delete old cache files?

You have to go into:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings and delete the files that start with 'sga'
Also go into: C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\D3DSCache and delete everything in there.

Also it might be worth verifying your game files through steam.

Same problem.

The game works perfectly without DLSS, but as soon as I activate it, it crashes.

I was able to start the game without crashing (after performed what you suggested), but after some time it crashes again. Thank you again!
Have this same issue. Every time I would try to load into the game, after it completes the old timey photograph montage, the game would close completely before getting to the gameplay stage. Turning off DLSS was the only thing that would get the game to work and turning in on would crash the game.

I don't understand why nvidia thinks we need so many updates. It's not like game developers can use driver software that doesn't exist yet when making these games. Why can't we just run with whatever drivers their beta testers use before game releases and keep driver updates to maybe once or twice a year?
same problem after updating the gpu driver now the game itself not detecting the nvidia gpu , its just loading on the integerated grapics card

That could just as much be windows at fault as it happens sometimes. You have to go to the display settings in windows and ensure the game is not defaulting to the integrated graphics for some reason. That has been an issue for a long time and doesn't always happen.

nvidia driver 572.16 is trash.:radiationsymbol: It has many Problems.
Install 566.36 and everything should be fine.
it's a mystery to me how the driver could get a Whql certification!
they test it on 1 System, I guess. :steamfacepalm:
Actually, 572.16 is absolutely awesome!! I would be willing to guess that these replies have been from users of the directx12 graphics api. you need to switch it to vulkan. My RDR2 runs for 8+ hrs without issue and dlss is on and set to quality. It is definitely not a driver issue as much as a compatibility one. Idk, I'd guess that 566.36/566.14/etc. supported RDR2's use of d3d12 much more efficiently. For instance, with 572.16 and graphics api set to directx12, on my rig, the game crashes upon opening and presents a memory overload on the game side (game thinks you don't have enough). Using the settings.xml folder found in rockstar games (not steam), change the api to vulkan. This may fix the issues you are experiencing with the 572.16 driver. For me, the newest optimizations with 572.16 have doubled my gpu output in fully supported games (cyberpunk 2077), and gave about a 5% avg fps increase for all other games; for some games this includes an increase in graphical fidelity. RDR2 was no exception! Hope this helps.

Weird because I've been using vulkan for years, with over 1700 hours played, and DX12 still always crashes on startup for me with steam overlay enabled no matter the driver. Vulkan only started crashing at the end of the loading screen with 572.16. Your situation definitely doesn't apply to everyone.

Strange that this is your fist ever post on any steam discussion page. Trying to spread misinformation with some chatgpt wall of text?
