Game stops working?

Its hard to explain but I can do a mission or do some free roam stuff and all of a sudden, things start to stop working, I go to a mission and nothing activates, I talk to NPCs and no response, I move through the world and things stop loading and when I hit the pause menu, nothing shows, only way out is to Alt+F4, the game hasnt crashed as when I hit Alt+F4 it asks if I want to close the game, no idea whats going on or whats causing this.
Thought it was a graphics issue, so changed everything and anything, including changing from Vulkan to DirectX12 but still the same things keep happening
Any help will be appreciated

Yep seems to be a lot of us on newer Intel CPU’s that are having this issue.

What’s weird is I beat this game in 2023 on the same pc I’m currently using, and I had absolutely no issues. I return yesterday to play again and suddenly I’m getting exactly what you are describing.

The only thing I’ve seen that might work is to launch the game, then open task manager and set the RDR2.exe to efficiency mode. I haven’t tested this a ton yet but the one play session I did this, I had no issues. There is another person on these forums who said they have had success with that as well. That person said it caused slight microstutter for them but I didn’t notice that myself

I just wanted to circle back on this after some more testing. Since I started putting RDR2 in efficiency mode, I have played quite a bit and not had this issue once. I'm curious of other experiences as well

I fix my freezing with taking out one DDR5 ram stick. With 1 stick working great.
