RedM - Hosting

Hi, just wondering if you can simply host RedM on your own for your friends via steam or do you have to rent a server?

Just mostly interested in playing coop online with some mods.

https://redm.net you download a launcher with a list of player owned server. It's not owned by Steam. You rent a server from RedM. Rockstar bought RedM a little over a year ago but they don't do anything. The good thing about them owning it is the mods are better because many mod scripters were low lifes and screwed ppl but they now fear Rockstar so the mods are not so bad now. So, you have to rent a server and add mods to give the server things to do and some mods are free and some mods can cost 100s. It's unfortunate that many server owners have a God complex and many servers are terribly run. If you wanna have a look at a server I can tell you one that's just starting, they are trying mods and and adding stuff every day. It isn't officially open but you can join and test stuff for them and they'll give you $10,000 in game cash to help you test stuff.
