Collector disappeared?

I have the collector role and been grinding out the maps, but all of a sudden, my active map is gone, my map bag is empty, the role related NPC is nowhere on the map (doesn't show up on the index either) and when I received role related mail (weekly collections e.t.c.) it just disappears after reading, with no entry or anything.

Thought at first it was just a glitch, but has been like this for 2 days now.
I still have the items I collected, but nowhere to sell them.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Collector; moves around the map, 1 of 12 different spots each day, resetting ~2am EDT. You can still sell complete collections to her via the mail, but yeh - to sell individual items (capped at 10x each), you'd need to find her.
Weekly collections; the actual letter you receive is relatively meaningless - after collecting it, it'll update your collectors bag, which is where you'd need to browse to find out what's being requested.
Map bag; if you're out of maps, it should be empty - you can only carry 1x of each variety, and it's 'thrown out' once utilized, requiring you to purchase a replacement. Not sure why your current map was cancelled, unless you recovered all 3 items.

... while some may consider this 'cheating', I'd strongly recommend browsing for online resources if you intend to give the Collector an earnest attempt. It's arguably the most lucrative role, which R* 'balances' by making it incredibly annoying and tedious - the online resources merely make it less-so.

Thank you for your response, but I was already aware of all of that.
I was already close to maxing out my level with the role, so I am quite familiar with the loop of finding the collector and getting new maps.
What I'm talking about, is her literally not being anywhere.
She's no longer listed on the map index, her icon is nowhere to be seen and I even went to all the locations she usually spawns at.

Not sure if it's related, but I did find a letter in my normal letter bag by an "M", directing me to a gazebo in Saint Denis, however, when I go there, nothing happens.

Yeah that's probably why, you're "on a quest". When you get to the gazebo there will be a yellow area, you need to walk into it. Once you've talked to him you can just go to the 'blood money' locations and start the quests.

Right - if you haven't spotted her today (since ~2am this morning), this is normal. If you *have* spotted her today (btw, she's in Big Valley, just south of Hanging Dog Ranch), then I'd be surprised if she ever disappeared ... unless you tried going there during a dedicated mission (Legendary Bounty, etc).
