Other guns are trash but you can try them.
Good starter weapons: dual revolvers(any type), Carbine repeater.
Mauser as a side weapon yes for its rapidity of fire.
Carcano and Rolling Block Rifles are basically sniper rifles with a fixed scope that are very difficult to use when enemies are reasonably near or up close.
The Springfield Rifle is your best rifle and weapon for day to day use.
Any revolver or pistol won't really make much difference, save them for shooting birds etc.
Save the Carcano or Rolling Block Rifle for long distance sniping.
Don't forget that ammunition makes a difference.
High velocity rounds can go through two deers at once but I'd still recommend Express ammunition.
They are OP when you know how to use it.
It's pretty OP for mid-to-long range combat.
With the Carcano or Rolling Block you can't switch between scopes, the rifle is always scoped.
The Springfield Rifle is able to switch between scope or no scope.
For me, just mid scope is enough for most distances, since I use shotguns for CQC.
That's your personal preference, it doesn't make for the best rifle or weapon.
I'm telling you my friend if you'll listen that the Springfield Rifle is the best day to day weapon in the game.
Side arm - Mauser or revolver, no real difference.
Sniper - Carcano or Rolling Block.
Main Use - Springfield Rifle.
Could you give us the results of your "test".
Of course not.
"1".
Compared with basic Carbine Repeater, Springfield is just trash.
That's why I recommended Carbine Repeater.
Now you're struggling mate, you best clutch hard at them floating straws or you'll sink.
Carbine repeater is a very weak weapon, I'd recommend a pea shooter before that.
Do you seriously believe that a repeater is better than a rifle?
Screw dead eye, just look at the stat's.
But sure, you can take your sweet time reloading a bullet one by one, while other veteran players dropped all the remaining enemies with deadeye for you.
"Best day to day rifle" huh?, Your day is very peaceful I guess. Are you only shooting rabbits for the whole day?
Never seen any veteran using nor recommending this Springfield trash, afaik.
Like, why recommending a slow and useless guns? Just spam snake oil and drop all enemies in one go, it's the most efficient way.
Hit the head and it kills, same result as Rifles.
Yes, it's better overall, for beginner.
Rifles have slightly better firepower but in serious missions, Some rifles, such as bolt actions, doesn't perform very well compared with repeaters.
Have you ever tried a "normal" game mode? Enemies won't let you be chill and relax, reloading a bullet one by one, they will kill you if you were too slow.
You don't want to rely heavily on you good, manual aim, harder enemies AI can "warp" away from your crosshair, only deadeye can hit their head easily.
Sure, you might have a good aim but what about a foggy weather, moonless night or thunderstorms? Enemies still see you clearly while you see nothing.
I also like the varment rifle for birds and small animals and I scope it or upgrade the scope first thing I can.
I hate the vulkan revolvers, but do ugly damage up close. Unless I need upclose like when attacked by pack of wolves I mostly use the springfield rifle.
The carbine repeater I don't like. I have dead eyed with the springfield so you can do it. Though when hunting I consider dead eye cheating.
Springfield I find to be more powerful and accurate than the carbine if use the express cartridges or split point. Though explosive ammo finishes encounters well.
The more you use a gun the better your arthur gets with that weapon. I like the springfield so use it the most. I think there are other bonuses you can get to enhance your shooting so overall it could be the time put in to the gun and other bonuses that impact how good you are with any of them.
I don't like the carbine repeater, used it for most of my beginning play 100 hours or so and switched to the springfield and stopped using the repeater. Is best gun for scope use that I have used.
If you are playing kill everyone and shoot as many people as possible. I just use explosive ammo and end it asap, doesn't really matter the gun.
High velocity ammo sucks for hunting, but there is a sweet spot in distance where you "can" get perfect pelts though is more a personal challenge than repeatable event.
The bow is useful but isnt my favorite weapon. Depends how you play. Is good for shooting fire and explosive arrows which makes fun time with the gang camps.
Havent tried poison ammo yet.
