Should be on your horse. Or you can go back to camp / bed, where there should be a wardrobe function, and apply it there. Only way you'd permanently lose a hat is if it was in-fact not yours, and not special in any particular way ... but most of those you can just buy in a store.

Thank you. I lost it in the train raid. It appeared out of nowhere in chapter 2. But I didn't know about all the things the horse can store. This game is a world.
