Graphics look bad even on high settings
Ground and tree textures look horrible like actual crap. I have everything on high settings but the environment just looks bad. Character and animal models are all good but everything else is ass. The game looks great on my GF's PS4 but on my PC it looks bad.

Do you have screenshots of your settings?

Textures have to at least be ultra. Anything below looks like dog poo.
I'd recommend you try these settings https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/s/8YJmG9TImi

Yes even if you must put everything else on LOW, please ensure you set Textures=Ultra; it is odd I know, but it's a must.

One other major factor in how Graphics might turn out for you (this part will differ per Screen Res and also per your Display) is the TAA. This should always be set to High and then set the Image Sharpness to at least half way, which would translate to a setting of 2.00 ~ The lowest being 1.00 and the highest being 4.00

Textures = Ultra
TAA = High
TAA Image Sharpness = 2.00

Is basically what you want for any GPU while running the game @ 900p, 1080, 1200p

If your GPU is good enough to be able to do 1440p/60 FPS or higher, then you may need to adjust the TAA Sharpness.

This is keeping in mind you don't want to compress anything further by using DLSS/FSR.

Textures should not be anything below ultra

Rock* hides the poor ground textures under the geass which looks even worse at anything below ultra

It's the TAA, TAA on high makes shimmering go away but the leaves and nearby objects looks washed out and blurry. TAA medium makes the image clear but there are shimmering.

Trying to play RDR2 on a mashed potato while viewing the reflection off the side of a toaster, will get these kind of results...
