Cannot increase Resolution beyond 1080
Hello, I am using a 4k monitor and a 4090. When I set the output adapter to my integrated graphics card, I am able to set the resolution to match the monitor. When I switch the output adapter to the 4090, it will not allow me to go beyond 1080p. This results in the game launching in a small window in the upper left hand corner of the screen. I do not have this issue with other games. I have tried using the GeForce experience program to change the resolution, switching to display port, changing the xml file to set the resolution, and I have tried both vulkan and dx12. None of this has worked to correct this issue. Please advise.

Is this just me?

Did you set the XML file to ''read only'' after changing the resolution?

Although a really good idea, unfortunately it did not work. I set it to read only and still the same behavior. I want to point out that the system.xml file shows the correct resolution. The settings in game still maxes as 1080p, and the game still launches in a tiny window. Also, I tried lowering my monitors resolution to 1080p and the game is extremely blurry. I am seeing other people having this issue in discussions so maybe a recent thing? The game is completely unplayable for me at this time.

Your HDMI/display port cable is junk most likely ,

Didn’t consider that. I’ll see if I can pick up a new one later today. Thanks.

Replaced with new HDMi 2.1 cable from Best Buy and still the same outcome. Any other ideas?

Then your probably trying to use a refresh rate your monitor doesn’t support

Negative, 60hz refresh rate monitor and 60hz in the settings. Again, the issue is I can not select 3840 x 2160 when using output adapter 1 which is my graphics card. Output adapter 0 does allow this, but obviously that is my integrated graphics from my Intel cpu. This shouldn’t really have anything to do with refresh rate.

Have you tried it with your iGPU disabled, by any chance? Just wondering if that would make a difference. You could also try a different driver version if you haven't yet. Apart from that I don't think I have any suggestions you haven't already tried.

Edit: Could also try deleting the XML file and resetting the NVCP settings for the game if you altered any. The XML file will be regenerated upon boot. I've had problems with Vsync before after changing Vsync related settings but eventually setting it to on + triple buffering. Game was screen tearing as if Vsync was disabled. Doing the above and reapplying my settings fixed that.

Deleting the XML file and letting it regenerate is generally good practice for graphics related issues as well in case you run into any in the future, given you're able to resolve this problem first of course.

I mean, can't you just put the resolution scaling to 2x or higher?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, nothing seems to work. I tried scaling the resolution by changing my 4k monitor to a 1080p resolution but the game looks like I’m playing through an opaque pane of glass. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me that the integrated graphics card allows the correct resolution. Disabling the integrated graphics results in the same behavior that I’ve been seeing. Appreciate you guys, just gonna put this on hold until further notice I guess.

Make the monitor with the 4090 your primary in windows display settings

I have a similar issue. the game does not let me play on a 2560 x 1440 resolution, it just goes as high as 1080p. I have tried using geforce experience (and rockstar launcher), and despite everything being set up correctly, it still doesn't let me go beyond 1080p. I saw that some people had better luck changing the settings from vulkan to dx12, but that still didn't give me the option to increase the resolution.

Funny enough, if I use the steamlink app on my smart tv I am able to play full screen without issues, but there is some lag from time to time, so I would prefer to play on my monitor, full screen.

If anyone have any other suggestions I would really appreciate it! (geforce RTX 3090, in case anyone thinks this could matter)

and its for sure not switching from fullscreen into windowed mode when you change resolution somehow?

I have no problems at all with my 2080ti can play both 1440 and 2160, but I rather play on 1440 because performance is better for my pc and besides you won't see many differences, so I would go for 1440 instead of 2160. I didn't help much but I tried. I would say Update your drivers but wouldn't make sense as you said other games were alright.
