Will using a trainer in singleplayer give a vac ban
Hi I was wondering if I were to download a trainer or "mod", will steam or rockstar notice it and vac ban me for it or something similar? Just thinking of using it in SP, I don't even play online

There is no VAC system. That's for Valve Source Engine Online MP Games.

You are free to use Mods in Story Mode all you want.
Just be sure that if you ever want to play the Red Dead Online portion that before you then load up the game, you take EVERY file associated with mods, the scripthooks, the mod folders and files and MOVE them out of the RDR2 game folder.

So for example:
/steam/steamapps/common/red dead redemption 2

I make folder here:
/steam/steamapps/common/_RDR2_MODS

Then move all my mods and scripts into that folder prior to launching RDR2 when I wish to play RDO.

If you do mod, I really suggest you do a separate story mode playthrough just for when using any mods. You can backup your existing saved game slot files out of where those are stored to keep track of which saves are which. Then go ahead and mod the game and then start a fresh playthrough so that when you start saving the game, that there is no conflict in your mind which saves are which (modded vs vanilla/un-modded).

As it is possible for certain mods to disable the in-game achievement system just as if you activated an in-game cheat code. So please be mindful of that.

Mods are allowed for story mode. Game doesn't use VAC at all.

trainers and other 3rd party enhancements are allowed, remember the game has its own in-game cheats. But in SP only!

its impossible for Rockstar to VAC ban you. they can ban you though. (not for cheating in sp)

i dont know why you even mention VAC.

No., and downloading a trainer and disabling the wanted system in SP is the ABSOLUTE BEST way to play the game. Most NPC's carry a gun anyways, and every town still has its own law enforcement NPC's that will still shoot at you.

That alone is reason enough to use a trainer

It does not have vac bur some cheats like plitch can affect the online version of this game. Also, while using mods, you can't access the online game.
