Red Dead Redemption 2 does not appear in rockstar launcher purchased from Steam
I bought RDR2 on Steam a week ago and I'm trying everything to make it work. The game does not appear in my library in the rockstar game launcher. Instead, it shows "Red Dead Online" and the "Play on Steam button". My social club account is linked to my Steam account. My GTAV appears in the library. Tried to uninstall launcher, social club and RDR2 several times. I've updated everything I can think of and tried tinkering with a ton of settings. When I run RDR2 from the Steam library it opens the Rockstar games launcher and runs the RDR2.exe file, but it quickly goes to a black screen and crashes. When I try to launch the RDR2.exe file directly, it opens the rockstar game launcher and says "Your social club account does not have Red Dead Online". I messed up the settings and started as an administrator. I even upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I sent a support ticket to rockstar but got no response. Basically, the only thing I haven't done so far is update my BIOS. My thinking is somehow that my Steam version of RDR2 wasn't linked to my social club account.

Okay that's a pretty strange problem you're facing. I can only suggest 2 possible fixes here first one being, check if your Rockstar Launcher and Steam accounts are linked. Secondly, go to the main directory where your RDR2 is installed and you'll find PlayRDR2.exe and RDR2.exe in there. Makes sure you DO NOT run them as administrator. If this doesn't fix your problem try updating your drivers or get a refund.

I have been told that having only Red Dead online in the launcher is actually normal for the Steam version. It is linked to the main game.
If you find out otherwise, let us know.
The black screen issue is another problem altogether. There are posts on that in the discussion. I have the same exact scenario and have never got past the black screen despite trying every known fix.
If you find a solution, please post it.

I managed to solve my problem by starting steam in admin mode! Only that. I had already reinstalled the Rockstar game and launcher, but it wasn't effective.

Happy to help friend :)
I found the solution I think. In the rockstar games launcher go to store and on the top there’s a box that says all titles click that and go to red dead online and it’ll show not just red dead online but rdr2 and its ultimate addition.
