Can't stop sprinting horse, keyboard/mouse
I know, it was discussed long ago, but answers were only few and not very clear. So when holding W and tapping L-shift the horse enters non stop sprint regime. If I dismount (E) horse stops, when mounting again horse immediately starts running at full speed without pressing any key. When pressed CTRL horse stops, but by releasing it starts again. Even if saving game at this situation and loading the save horse starts sprinting again immediately after mounting. ( The mentioned accessibility settings tap and hold are off ) Only way to calm the horse was dismount it and lead some time, than mount again.

If the horse is over stressed yep thats only way stop and calm him.
Sprint L/Shift
Slow/Stop L/Ctrl

one tap click on ctrl stops him if i recall holding ctrl will lock it in maybe. Could also be the sprint. Test both see if the tap click or hold key down shifts it in either the L/Shift or the L/Ctrl
Possibly this is not working?> ( The mentioned accessibility settings tap and hold are off )

Jaunitta has you covered with a good explanation of the controls

The Horse motion is buggy though - i have been in situations where the horse doesn't move forward unless hold the Shift key - pressing W only and the Horse will stop (even when riding on a road). It does clear up after about 30 seconds, but it just illuminates the crap controls and conflicting code.

Also, there is a build-in Response Lag to everything - walking, running, turning, aiming, etc. - i'm not sure why... some folks say "for smoothness", but with an on-line PvP capability, Response Lag is a non-starter, so just a flat out bad idea.

Appreciate this info; am having the same issue.

(In general, the keyboard and mouse controls feel very inconsistent/not behaving as expected.)
