Bounties dont go away?
so i just got into this town with uncle and 3 girls and later when i finished the missions i went to the drug store and i noticed there is some kind of door in the back and then i just couldnt talk to the doctor and i could only pull out my weapon.. i did and i had the chance to rob the back of the drug store and i killed few people in there. I got bounty on my head, but the gun i found was pretty much worth it. How do i get rid of the bounty? Its not like i can pay it off or surrender while i have all that stuff on me.

If you can interact with the postofficeman then you can pay the bounty at him.

Let me repeat what i said. "How do i get rid of the bounty? its not like i can pay it off or surrender while i have all that stuff on me" and that "Its not like i can pay it off" means i dont have almost any money. Logically cuz its just start of chapter 2.

If money is the only issue, then one option can be do treasure maps.
If i recall right you get about 500RD$ for the goldbar inside the chests.

If it a issue of you been detected by law, then run and hide after a little while you should be free to roam again.

"How do i get rid of the bounty?"
Well, one way is to pay it off with money (there is no surrendering once the bullets start flying) - so, you need to earn money to "pay it off" at the Ticket Agent at the Train Station, where there is an option to Pay Bounty.

The Other Way to "Clear a Bounty" is to do some jail time. Just walk into a Sheriffs office and "turn yourself in" - they will take the Bounty from whatever money you have, and put you in jail for some number of days and release you afterwards. (yes, if you turn yourself in, you might pay the bounty and do jail time)

In general, bounties are permanent - so, like most rpgs, u need to learn to make money if you want to clear the Bounty without Jail time

When you get a Bounty, there is an initial cooldown (lockdown) period in the Town, but after that (5 minutes or so) you can interact with Store Owners normally, even with an active bounty in that state - even with all the stolen things on you

Having a Bounty isn't entirely bad, but depending on how big it is, Bounty Hunters might find you. Bounty Hunters will show up on ur mini-map like Lawmen as big Red Dots, on a road usually, but also near your rough camp.

$50 Bounty is actually small and bounty hunter spawns are rare, where anything over $120 will spawn Bounty Hunters almost Daily while you explore outside of Main Camp. Note, Bounty Hunters never interfere with Missions, and never spawn at the Main Camp.

How to Make Money:
Treasure Maps will lead you to some serious, game-breaking wealth, but there are also a few randoms chests around with good loot.

Selling animal pelts, meat, components and carcasses, or Selling potions/elixirs that you can craft are the most common way i earn money early in the game.

The money isnt gonna be a problem later in the game, but right now after first few quests its really tough.

Good source for map info . . .
https://www.powerpyx.com/red-dead-redemption-2-treasure-map-locations-solutions/

Also, for a fast gold bar, go to the burned-out town of Limpany (north of flatneck station on the Dakota river) . . .find the sheriff's office, under the desk is a lockbox with a gold bar . . . there are others scattered around the map, but that one and the treasure hunts should set you up pretty well

About that burnt town from the video u showed me in the link it says its "preorder only bonus" so i guess there is no loot for me.

FYI, bounty hunters tend to carry decent cash/loot. So they're kinda giving you the means to earn extra cash at the cost of chasing you from time to time...

I didn't pre-order and the gold bar was in the lock-box at Limpany. Give it a try.

Yes i found it. I thought the gold was with the map that requires you to have the game preordered so my bad.

Yes i just finished the first one which was very funny.. + 50$ tho there is no more bounty showing up. Is there a wait time or every small town has one bounty?
marcusaddamsson Sep 18, 2021 @ 6:54am
Bounties are 'area' bound, so you'll only run into trouble if you revisit that area without paying the bounty. Once you do, you're free and clear until you step outta line again... and the amount of the bounty matters quite a lot. Once you have a very high bounty, the hunters come often and in force... it becomes quite annoying. Generally speaking, I try to avoid bounty-inducing actions (like dinkin' with trains). Much better ways to get money, 9 times out of 10. Which is kinda unfortunate...
