Sold gold earring didnt work?

I sold the gold earring to a fence and so i can craft the oar talisman, but it still says 0 out of 1 for the gold earring? did it glitch or what

Well, you just sold it, that's why you no longer have it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Get a new one and craft while it's in your inventory.

You don't sell it, you use it.

So make the boar tusk with the earring IN your inventory.

It is a different mechanic than the trapper which makes you sell it to him first.

The Fence takes it out of your Inventory - if you have it.
If you have it, it the Trinket appears as an item he can craft and if you look at 'the ingredients' you'll see the one you have is listed.... until you sold it, of course.
