Once you get attacked by a predator, use one finger to spam "G".
It is not guaranteed though :D
Decide which horse stats matter to you the most. I prefer Stamina over Health.
I also like high acceleration, but it is always lower than Speed, and Top Speed varies very little across all horses even though the marks make it seem significant.
Then - decide on what Horse Size you prefer (Arabian are too small imo)
So, with this considered, Foxtrotter is my preference, but not available early in RDO
Early in RDO there is a red arabian that has good stats and low cost (available at Level 1) - Dutch Warmbloods would be my next pick (level 38?) - and then Foxtrotte probably (Level 58?)
3 star will fill your goods with Cripps faster. 2 star buck almost or about the same as a 3 star deer.
So if your going for 3 star you shoot stationary with long range rifle in the head. Like coming up a hill for good sighting you walk the horse. Anything more than that and they will scatter, and hunting near a road is also bad because NPCs will scatter the game.
All of the above works for any horse.
As for gunfights, coming up on a bear etc- yes some horses are skittish.
I had the Arabian who is skittish but the superior handling (sharp corners) was nice galloping in thick woods not to hit a tree.
So I went with the Norfolk Roadster which is faster than the Arabian making it the fastest in the game. It's a little less skittish than the Arabian but still is.
Speaking of speed it's the one stat I'm not sure matter. I can keep up with other less speedier horses but not overtake them which makes me wonder if it matters.
The other stats do seem to matter.
I suppose you could stable different horses for different roles but that's a wait calling from the stables. And if in a posse - oh wait I got to change horse...............
The real question is, which hose take less Spam G to be calm or fastest to Calm if you are to slow on G in the first place.( if any diffrence at all )
and if any of the horses use up food faster than another.
Get less dirty, less noize, better at falling.
Same here. I just get of my horse and start blasting away. Hunting predators from a horse rarely goes well. If I am on foot I can always do a dodge and get a few more shots in that will be enough for the kill.
