How do I load my save?

So I bought RDR2 last night and started playing today. Played 6 hours with autosave on, then the game crashed on me, taking down the computer with it. Now that I restart the game, the save won't load. The story just starts from the beginning. The prospect of going through chapter 1 again does't seem too inviting. I have the save file, which shows it was last edited pretty much before the crash happened. How do I get the game to load that? Cloud saves are off if that's of any relevance.

sounds like that save is corrupt, a cloud save may have helped.

Sounds like a f**kup on Rockstar's part. Well, fortunately there's a savegame in nexusmods that's right after you begin chapter 2 so that helps. I hope I don't run into further incompetence in this regard.

If you have never saved a manual save then it will only be the auto save, which sounds corrupted. Start again, and do more manual saves is the only solution I think.

I suggest you do more manual saves while playing, e.g. before you start a mission, before logging off etc. and keep several of these as well, I think I have about 15, and just use the bottom one each time I save (which it then puts to the top due to time/date).
