I know this may be annoying but I need advice/help
I am trying to update RDR 2 because I just want to jump back into single player but when I go to update it (74mb update)... I get the "Disk Write Error" message. I feel like I have tried everything and spent at least 4 hours trying to figure this out. Has anyone had a similar issue with a solution that's helped them recently?

If you're on the Rockstar Launcher then go to settings for the game and verify files.

For steam right click the game, properties and verify integrity.

Had that issue before and it fixed it.

If that doesn't work, then I would go to your local game area, delete a few random files (not save files) and then verify integrity again. Usually this "forces" an update to download the missing files and it has fixed the "writing error" for me before.

If all that fails then the last resort may be to uninstall and then reinstall the whole game.

hmmmm, is there enough space on your hard drive or ssd?

As another poster mentioned... check if you got enough storage brah.

Windows 10 ? If so... Start > File Explorer > This PC

Look at the status bars. If it's red it means you at the critical stage of running out of hard drive / ssd space.

Not a RDR2 problem - it is about STEAM. Try to force windows updates, download, install and restart system.

The funny thing is I messaged steam about this and they said it wasnt an issue with steam. I ended up being able to save my game from the files of the game and just had to re-download the whole thing. At least I am playing it again and I have my save.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I ended up having to re-install the game. I figured spendng 6+ hours on it wasnt worth it, so I was able to save my game through the files and re-download it
