Don't buy gold at all. You don't need it. Unlike Ubisoft games where premium currency can be had by real cash only. This game even with the balance update a month back still funnels gold down your throat. You just got to know the tips and tricks. Watch some youtube.

You wish to invest even more cash in this game? I mean, it's a great game, but you don't have to re-finance.

Edit: Play the game, from scratch, get in and have a time of it... make the cash/gold for free, while enjoying the game.

so, now that they have taught you what to do and how to play here is your answer:

You can buy gold ingame. (go to store in the menu)
It wil redirect you to add funds to your Steam Wallet, and buy it from the Store in RDR2.

So decide what package you want, make sure you got that amount of funds in your steam wallet and buy the gold trough the ingame store.

always let people buy gold when their willing to because it might make rockstar pay more attention to this game....

I've got the game on PS/XBox/PC. I've done my time.
Just in case this helps anyone else. I discovered that if you launch Rockstar games launcher it is easy to buy gold etc from there. As I use Steam for everything I don't normally use Rockstar game launcher, and the in game menu, accessed by pressing "Home" doesn't allow access to buying content.
