Play Station controller layout (PS5)
Hey, I've got a PS5 controller. I'm not using any 3rd party software. Just steam Big Picture. In Big Picture while in controller configuration I can clearly see that it detected it's layout but once I'm in any game the layout goes back to Xbox. How can I change it?

Steam Imput Status:
- Xbox - on, overwritten for the game
-PS - on, overwritten for the game
-Nintendo Switch - on, overwritten for the game
Standard controller - on, overwritten for the game
Steam Controller - on, always required
Remote Play - on, always required

And in big picture the only thing I have checked is "Guide Button..."

My controller was disconnected at that time, but when I plugged it in, then a blue dot showed up to the left of PlayStation.

Steam controller support is for games that don't have native support for your controller. It's an emulator like ds4windows. It turns your controller into an xbox controller so older games can read it. That's why you get xbox prompts. Most games from the last few years support PS4 controllers so you don't need steam for them. It's a ps4 game so it probably doesn't support your ps5 controller. So you need to go through steam and if steam emulates it as an xbox controller then those are the prompts you'll get.

People using PS4 controllers should deactivate it through steam and only use steam when they need it.

ok, and where can I disable it?

You already said you disabled it and the game wouldn't read it. So you'll probably have to go through steam and learn to live with the xbox prompts. You don't really see games add future controller support so unless steam writes their emulator to emulate a ps4 controller you probably won't ever see PS prompts for this game with that controller.

well, thanks. As soon as rockstar games launcher is working again (their servers are down due to maintenance) I'm gonna try if my PS4 controller works with RDR 2, but I don't think that this game doesnt support DS5, since rdr 2 is also available on PS5.
