where do i find buffalo exactly?

usually between the P and the L of Great Plains on your map is where I personally find them

Another way to find them is to do Harriet's missions... poacher camps sometimes have them locked in the cages, and the legendary bison mission often has an entire herd of them.

when you open the world map, look at New Hanover, they spawn in on the left side of the A of the new hAnover. thats for american bison aka buffalo. i hunt em all the time

decided to add to this that two of the legendary bison spawn in this location as well
(Tatanka Bison) white version only during rain (Tatanka Bison) grey version during rain at night.

technically the same legendary but a different variant.

Spawn locations are the same for the normal animals.
