2021: Vulkan or DirectX 12??

I would like your help in figuring out which API is better to run Red Dead Redemption 2. The game looks identical regardless of API, but I am concerned about best performance.
So, what API do you think is more appropriate to run Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC: Vulkan, or DirectX 12?

My basic PC specs:

• Windows 10 Pro, 64 bits, version 20H2
  
• Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz
  
• Geforce RTX 2080 SUPER, driver version 461.09
  
• Memory RAM DDR4, 16 GB

I would say Vulkan, but if you really want to know, just do the benckmark with both API and compare the results

Vulkan have 2-4fps more on my gtx 1060 than DX12

Generally they both should be equally the same but from my personal experience Vulkan is more stable with this game than DirectX, test both with your GPU and see which performs better for you...

Guys ... Can you help me? Since the beginning of January, I can't play for Vulkan anymore.

I played normally one day, after the update that removed the Christmas event and Snow, I can no longer open a game via API Vulkan, Always giving an error ...

I change the API in the settings file to DX12 and the game opens normally, but if I change to Vulkan the game does not open.

My cousin and brother-in-law who play with me both have Nvidia and are able to play normal with Vulkan.

Has anyone had this error or seen it? know how to solve?

I already deleted the configuration file to set everything up again, but it didn't work out ..

Vulkan for Nvidia GPUs.
DX12 for AMD GPUs.

Hi Man...!

Yes...driver updated. I have been using Vulkan ever since, I finished History Mode using Vulkan, I restarted History and I have many hours online using Vulkan, it all started after the Christmas update.

I am in a Forum now that has solutions for this error, I hope to work.

The Vulkan API worked, I finally got it, I just uninstalled the Social Club and installed it again using Revo Uninstaller, why didn't I do it before? lol ... I can't believe I didn't do the basics ... hahahaha.

@Sierra Vulkan does this at the beginning because of the shaders compilations, but it gets better after that.

Same here, switched back to DX12 couple days ago and the stutters went away, hope it lasts!
