Legendary Bear Pelt

I just started playing the game, and I got to the mission where you hunt the legendary bear. I kill it and skin it, and I can't do anything with the pelt. The game tells me I can sell it to the "trapper", but I have no clue who that is. I look it up and it turns out I haven't actually gotten anywhere near any of the trapper's locations and I'd have to ride out farther than I ever had before to reach him, but before I can even leave Valentine to look for his nearest location, I end up killing someone because they attacked me. Apparently that wasn't self defense because the law comes after me. The game then tells me that my crimes aren't to severe and I can approach the lawmen and focus on them to pay off my bounty on the spot, but I just end up pulling out my gun because it's the same button and they shoot me to death. When I respawn, the damn bear pelt is gone. Almost half as much money as I currently have is down the drain because I had no clue what I was supposed to be doing.

I'm just venting. The game gives me a big payday, and then doesn't adequately explain how to cash out on it. By the time I figure it out through external guides, I've already done something else stupid that made me lose my opportunity. Again, due to the game not adequate explaining a mechanic.

Ran smack into a brick wall today on account of no one telling me it was there in the first place. Just venting !

Yeah it´s annoying. Saving ppl from robbers and then getting your honor lowered bc you shot the robbers and the corpses being discovered in bushes...

Also had hard time to figure out what to do with the belt. Finally dropped it in camp to store it away and went to ride around to find some place to sell it. Got msgs that I abandoned my belt and it was gone, vanished in thing air... Awesome. At least I saved game just b4.

it's @ the trapper's location you need to go there to get it, the legendary pelt is used to make clothing etc only other than that it's what it's used for

By the way, in story mode you don't even need to deliver pelt to trapper to unlock that clothing/trinkets. It's enough just to kill it. Technically pelt is just some extra cash.

Sell it to the Trapper, not to a Butcher

i did that which i already knew i went by the 1 by anasburg after the guy with the wolves
