Once the fish bites, you hit the left mouse button to hook it, then hold that till it stops fighting, once it has calmed down, hold space to reel in & tap R a few times to increase speed. note that once max speed is reached you don't have to tap R again... while reeling in, Press the left mouse button and move the mouse up or to a side and you will see your character lift the rod in a jerk like motion, this helps to bring the fish closer. When it starts to fight again, let go of space to stop reeling and keep pulling the fish using the left mouse button and upward motion of the mouse. Then wash, rinse and repeat until you land the fish, shouldn't take more than 5 min for a legendary fish, a lot less for any normal large fish.
As soon as they break the surface, just tap space lightly, then do as before when they go under. They are pretty predictable in when they break surface, you get to know when and expect it.
You lose a few and a few lures at the beginning, but once you get a feel for it, it gets easier.
Nothing like catching a big pike or muskie and cooking it on shore.
I appreciate that you can use the 'hooligan' approach. Dynamite, or shooting, but I think each game teaches you new skills. Whether that's playing a fish, lassoing a horse, or playing poker.
I thought when I first saw this game, that R* had incorporated an educational element.
You learn all about the; guns, horses, flora and fauna of wild west, but you also learn new skills.
I believe the mind, if it's an immersive game doesn't distinguish between reality and game.
So I enjoy making the catch and eating it.
Let's say I catch one while I am still on Survivalist 9, then Survivalist 10 pops and says I gotta catch one of each type of fish -- if I already caught that first legendary does that mean I gotta go back and catch it again? Can I catch it again? 🤨
Legendary fish can only be caught once. The survival challenge doesn't require catching any Legendary fish, just one of each type of fish species. For example, both the regular sockeye salmon and the Legendary Sockeye salmon are still salmon, so catching either one counts toward your challenge.
lol, is very easy, what a controller user thing to say. Just bind it to something that suits you.
I got most of the fish under 2 min. My advice is don't cast it very far. I got the legendary 1st cast under 30 seconds.
Fishing in Far Cry 5 is fun - and very much like real fishing - except the part about a 24.5lb Rainbow on every cast...lol.
I actually enjoy a little fishing with Timber swimming around (after you shoot the Demonfish so they won't bite him).
There's nothing to enjoy about RDR2 fishing.
I am a fisherman.
I have caught a real 400lb Bluefin Tuna (in 5 hours) that was NOT that much fun - and it was way more fun than a 4 ounce Bluegill in RD2R...
I am convinced the RDR2 developers have never been fishing in their lives.
It's awful.
It's also a goal I will never complete.
