I feel like the game forces you to play a specific way.

Picked the game up recently and I am really feeling like the game is forcing you to play the "good guy" or die, lawman having satellites and clone machines in the old west, oh and X ray vision since masks do NOTHING to them, I have chosen not to progress far in the story just yet, running around and hunting building funds and enjoying the world and the random events. I am hoping this may change later on, but I am doubting heavily, I am wondering if I am just doing things wrong here and just making empty complaints, or does the game really have the players hands behind their backs? I looked for some mods to try to remedy the problem and the mod scene is barren which surprised me.

I can understand that the game punishes you for being caught doing something, however if you are on a mountain and some @$$wipe shoots you for walking slowly near his camp because you're hunting, and then you get a bounty for defending your self, on top of the lawman teleporting on your location within a minute when there is no town or civilization near you is a bit...much. Would love a mod that makes it so masks work on lawman x.x

Any help on any of these points would be appreciated or insight on what I could do different, I want to like the game, I'ts just been leaving a bad taste for me.

Also anyone know a good place for badges/squirrels? Can't seem to get a perfect no matter what I do x.x

If anything you get money far to easy in this game (you will never have to rob anyone anymore after the bank job in valentine because you will have so much money....) And yes the bounty system is a little bit broken too. It helps a little if you change your outfit often but thats the only thing you can do.

It does feel like train track rails. It definitely does. The only time the game doesn't do that is when you're just messing about in free roam.
Use the map and the animal study to find the best spots. I'm certain the best Squirrel habitats are found either West, West Elizabeth or East, New Handover.

So when someone witnesses you, they don't actually know it's you. Once they get the law coming, the lawmen go to that area the witness spotted you and start searching the area, if you stay in that area (big red circle) long enough for a lawman to see you, they'll catch on to who you are as a mask can essentially only do so much. Changing clothes or having a mask on is so the citizens can't identify you.

As soon as someone witnesses you and reports the crime RUN, get out of the red search area so the lawmen can't complete their investigation and you'll not get a bounty or have them chase you. Here is a decent video explaining the bounty system, hope it helps!
