Maybe RDR2 is two games in one, the cowboy game and a keybinding simulator.
Being there show how much people can easily spew hate without a technical analysis.
Although I will say I mainly play games with a controller, except city management and first person shooter ones.
Man I'm actually beginning to scratch myself just thinking about it.
*twitches*
Pity, because otherwise it's such a wonderful game.
... and that's why I put in the time to rebind and relearn most of the keys... about 30 hours... time well spent 3000 hours ago and yep... that's a lot of game that's been played.
Controls are just fine. Depends on how much you time you put in and any time you put in is worth it.
Pretty soon you realize it's not the controls, it's R*'s juvenile mapping of them. Apparently nobody at R* uses a keyboard, so they just 'guessed' (and were horribly wrong). They also love making one key do about 5 different things, so while your sat there waiting for a prompt to tell you which key to press - the 'moment' has passed.
Best to Rebind - and build that new muscle memory. If a guy in his 70s can do it with these worn out claws - guys half my age should be able handle it.
The problem is really just the fact that nearly every action in the game is, like 90% contextual. There's times where you cant draw and fire your gun because your character is busy thinking you're still having a pleasant conversation with someone and refuses to do anything but stand completely dead still. The sheer amount of times ive taken my hands OFF the keyboard and simply watched as arthur did some completely nonsensical four-step animation out of nowhere is... staggering.
I wish i had one of those things that streamers have that shows which buttons are being pressed so i can confirm im not somehow laying my hands across seven different keys and using my tongue to control the mouse.
If people put the same effort into learning / tailoring the controls that they put into finding posts to necro, they'd probably play quite well. (^.^)
That really bothers you, eh?
GOOD!
My day is already looking up.
