Game not launching..
Just bought the game, and it won't launch. Verified the files, etc.. GTA5 and Cyberpunk 2077 run great. Bummed I'm wasting the little bit of time I get to game after work screwing around with this :(

There seem to be random fixes, but more fails than successes unfortunately. Rockstar has been silent. No refunds that I'm aware of.

I've tried verifying files, turning off the firewall, turning off "real time protection", excluding folders from Microsoft Defender Antivirus, updating drivers, setting apps as adminstrator, installing the launcher from their website, and reinstalling windows.

Haven't figured this one out...

I actually downloaded this on a separate gaming laptop that I have, running Windows 10, runs everything else well, same issue of crashing on the Rockstar social loading screen from steam, and just quitting without loading if I try to run it directly from the Rockstar launcher.

I originally bought it from EPIC (discount was better) and I had the same issues as I'm having now. I returned it to EPIC hoping that STEAM would be easier to diagnose and work with.

I think it is easier working with STEAM but I still haven't found a fix.

It didn't work for me, but this is what Rockstar sent me as a potential solution:

"We would like you to try the following troubleshooting steps below:

Reinstall Rockstar Games Launcher

Close any Rockstar Games titles that are running
Navigate to the Rockstar Games Launcher Installation folder

Default: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher
Double-click the uninstall.exe program and uninstall the Rockstar Games Launcher
Leave the prompt to uninstall the game data unchecked.
Remove any remaining Rockstar Games Launcher and Social Club files
Delete all of the following folders
NOTE: Do not delete any other folders or files as you may lose game save or other data.

C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Rockstar Games\Social Club
C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Rockstar Games\Launcher
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games \Launcher (wherever it was installed previously)
C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Social Club
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Social Club
Restart your computer
Reinstall the Rockstar Games Launcher using the following link: https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/rockstar-games-launcher

Once done, please run Rockstar Games Launcher as an Administrator.

We would also recommend temporarily turning off your Windows Defender Firewall & any Anti-virus installed in your computer before launching the game."

They got back to me with new instructions. I haven't been able to try this, but when I am able to, I'll update this thread.

"Below steps should resolve the issue:

Open the Rockstar Games Launcher installed folder (Default: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Social Club) and delete the SocialClub.dll file.
Navigate to My Document > Rockstar Games and delete folders called "Launcher" and "Social Club".
Open the Rockstar Games Launcher installed folder and install the Social-Club-Setup.exe file (Default: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher\Redistributables\SocialClub)
Start the Rockstar Games Launcher as Admin
Click the "Settings" option at the top right corner of the Rockstar Games Launcher.
Select "Red Dead Redemption 2"
Click on "Verify integrity" under Verify game file integrity. The Rockstar Games Launcher will verify and download the missing files.
Launch Red Dead Redemption 2.

Please change the DNS settings.
Open Start > Open Control Panel.
Click Network and Sharing Center.
Click Change adapter settings.
Open your connection's properties. Click the current Wi-Fi connection, then click Change settings of this connection at the top of the window.
Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
Click Properties. You'll find this button below the pane. Doing so opens a new window.
Check the "Use the following DNS server" box.
Enter a new DNS address in each of the boxes.
Type 8.8.8.8 into the "Preferred DNS server" text box.
Type 8.8.4.4 into the "Alternate DNS server" text box.
Click OK
Click Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
Click Properties. You'll find this button below the pane. Doing so opens a new window.
Check the "Use the following DNS server" box.
Enter a new DNS address in each of the boxes.
Type 2001:4860:4860::8888 into the "Preferred DNS server" text box.
Type 2001:4860:4860::8844 into the "Alternate DNS server" text box.
Click OK and close.
Restart Modem/Router and System."

I tried all the steps above, as written, and was still unsuccessful. However I did fix it by deleting the entire "Rockstar Games" folder from my documents folder afterwards.

In my case, the game seemed to be attempting to launch just fine via steam, but appeared to be hung up at the Rockstar Launcher. Hope that helps.

have the same issues, nothing works for me. I don't even get the option to 'verify integrity'?

right click the game in your library and select properties then verify files should work ......If not I would start with restarting steam......turn off cloud saves as well I would

Correction, Steam does verify but Rockstar doesn't. When I go to settings, there's nothing about my games but everything about my account etc

The "verify integrity" option in the Rockstar Games Launcher is exclusive to those who purchase the game directly from Rockstar

Excuse my English but I'm using Google Translate
I have a similar error and I don't know if it is the case we are dealing with.
When did the game Red Dead redeption 2 start on steam It runs but does not open any window In the steam library it appears running.
When you run the game directly from the desktop it doesn't open.
When you launched the game from the Rockstar games launcher The same thing happens if you run the game directly from steam
I have tried all the above options and many more And I don't think Rockstar games is giving them a solution.
I was speaking with members of the community in Spanish And they told me that I should reset the disk where I have saved the SO (Windows 10)
I do not want to perform this action since it is quite time consuming.
If someone solved this issue, Please communicate in this forum
It is appreciated all help is thrown
I had an issue with it freezing on the 'Connecting to Rockstar Games Services', social club thing that appears when you boot the game. From a post elsewhere (I forget where) it said to open One drive on my machine. Once I did that, it worked just fine when I next attempted to boot the game. Interestingly, I did notice that some social club files had backed up in One Drive, so I wonder if for whatever reason it was looking there, but since One Drive was closed it couldn't find them, which then prevented the social club from loading correctly.

If it is the same as me, you aren't logged into Rockstar Social Club and since for whatever reason it doesn't load the log in screen when booting the game it essentially just hangs until you force close it (it possibly times out in the end as well, but I'm not certain). Once I had signed into Rockstar Social Club once, I have not had the issue since. Even with One drive closed.

worst things you can do with any game is use steam cloud or microsoft one drive both should be disabled for less issues
