No idea if it's true so don't quote me on that, but I heard that the first game's code is such a jumbled mess it would take way just too much work to port it to any other platform, which is why it took this long for it to even being ported to modern consoles. Same thing for GTA IV iirc.
Rockstar is not very good with ports, they always have a botched launch.
And the more options on what you can do, the more depending (and vulnerable) on the controls it is, I'd guess that's true on any software, any devs will sing you mastertunes about it - but the length, or wideness of this game and the slow pace are sure two things I very much like, but hey, some like it hot. Or not. ;-)
Would you see the boring side 2 vs. 1 with too much story and land and less in between?
(I don't know about any GTA.. never played, never will)
I am asking out of sheer curiosity!
R* has always been pretty bad when it comes to supporting PC, GTA V still doesn't have the improvements that the console versions got years ago.
and then rdr2's more for the experience, the attention to detail. just walking down to the saloon barber to get a haircut while your boots tread through the mud leaving prints is the type of thing that makes the game interesting.
on controls though, if you're referring to the plain and simple action of walking/running/horse riding, i don't see how rdr2 didn't do a way better and smoother job at it. regardless i do still enjoy shooting someone in the face in rdr1 more.

I've put 1500 hours into this game (2 completed story playthroughs, rank 290 in Online) and have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it(except for the cheaters in online that made me stop playing). I'm glad they put so much effort into making the characters seem real and memorable. The cutscenes and story are incredible and experiencing the differences between high and low honor playthroughs is some of the best writing in any modern game. I'm glad they made the game somewhat slower paced.
They improved so much on RDR1 with everything from hunting, crafting, gathering, weapon/horse/character customization, honor system, cores & bars system, deadeye ability improving as you progress the story, collectables, challenges... And the physics and animations especially with characters showing emotions are outstandingly improved.
RDR1 animations are far more stiff and unrealistic especially horse riding, feels like you're magnetically attached to the ground, and gunplay is a joke with how snappy it is, but they could only do so much 14+ years ago.
All you did by making this thread is let everyone know you're an impatient fool that needs non-stop action and can't enjoy a slower paced story and don't have the coordination to control a game with realistic physics where you aren't glued to the ground all the time... Controls work fine for me with an Xbox elite controller and aren't clunky at all.
There is no gIt GuD in this game cause its literally easier than a super mario game lol its on rails movie with little to no choices in the missions. Its also INCREDIBLY boring, i cant think of a single mission in this game that is fun. Everything is in snail pace and the controls are clunky and unresponsive and the gunplay is even worse.
The characters are very uninteresting and the story could be written by a 10 year old, NOTHING exciting happens during the entire game. Sure the animations in RDR1 when looting etc are stiff but id rather have that than this snail pace slow motion game. All in all a terribly boring game. RDR1 is 1000 times more fun and better game.
