Hard FPS drops after driver update ?
I played the game with full Ultra on Vsync with very rare performance dips, but after updating my drivers, the game suddenly runs like crap. I have the same settings and everything.

It's because your nvidia shader cache is reset (deleted) after each driver installation and is slowly rebuilt as you play the game and progress through the world. Some games you don't really notice stuttering or hitching, but in games like RDR2 and W3 it is more noticeable.

For that reason, I only recommend upgrading your driver if you're playing a new game that is built around the latest driver, or if you're having issues with your current one. You can also check out r/nvidia for discussion on recommended drivers and their performance. I had major hitching in BF1 on the 540-550 series so I'm on 537.58. It's rock solid and a large % of the subreddit still uses 537.58.

Additionally, I recommend using DDU to uninstall your existing driver and then using NVCleanInstall to manually select whichever version you prefer.

This doesnt even seem to be a cache issue, as it doenst get any better. I go into the swamp area to do a bounty and during the fight, Im hard stuck on 35 FPS persistently, and it didint go away after 5 minutes.

EDIT
I DDU'd my drivers and went back to the old ones, and not only are firefights and serious weather still getting me down 20-30 FPS (it wouldnt before), my computer now runs super loud when I play RDR2. Idk wtf is causing this but Im just about ready to rip my hair out and give up.

If the game ran fine before, but now your computer is getting louder while your frame rates are dropping. You may be thermal throttling, might be time to clean your PC out. May not be the issue but its a thought.

Thing is, its literally ONLY RDR2, my other games (Even NFS Unbound which is known to run like ass) ran just fine.

Turns out that the problem gets even weirder than before.
I turned off Vsync just to see the FPS without any sort of caps on, and in the middle of Saint Denis, or in Rhodes, Id have 70-85 FPS, with NPCS all around me.
The moment I accepted a bounty and went to the actual location, my FPS would fall down to 40 every single time without fail, this is all on different areas of the game.
i capture the bounty, ride away all while I have 40 FPS in the swamp, and slowly watch it go up to 60 as I enter Saint Denis.

When I turned the bounty in, my FPS would skyrocket back up to 75 for reasons I cant even begin to explain. This is all while Im still surrounded by regular NPCs all around me.
At this point, Im going to just reinstall the game and see if that fixes it. I also tried verifying, but everything was fine, apparently.
