Keyboard Input Lag when tabbing out
After the update this afternoon I get insane keyboard input lag outside of the game when I tab out. It doesn't matter if it's just the Windows Search Bar or a Webbrowser. Everything else working fine, no visual lags and no mouse input lag. Just the insane input lag when typing. Never had a problem until today. Other games working fine as well. This even occurs in the Steam Overlay when trying to chat with a friend or opening the Steambrowser. I have a Razer Keyboard, if anyone else has this problem.

Edit: For a temporary fix look up post #145 to #148. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1174180/discussions/0/4410794772264329409/?ctp=3#c4410795103741435405
Thanks to Bad 💀 Motha and J.Jonah for that.

Edit: Thanks y'all for that many Community Awards <3

Does anyone checked if this happens only with RDR2? I checked Valve games, like Dota2 and CS2 - but no issue with those.

Can someone check with more demanding games? Maybe can someone check with GTA 5? To confirm its Rockstar Issue?

EDIT: Also, not sure if coincidance, just yesterday I switched AM4 > AM5 system, and faced this issue.
AM4 yesterday was no problem.
this only happens with GTA 5 and RDR2 to my knowledge, it is a rockstar issue.
and no, it is not your AM5 rig that's causing the problem, i'm on AM4 and the same issue happens with me. (ryzen 5 3600 + RX 6600)

Im just mad cuz a lot of people got this problem at the SAME time.. Its not a specific persons problem yet They treat it as its client side issue.. As if i did something wrong or experiented with conf. at my own risk.. ♥♥♥♥

Correction: there -is- something changed in the Social Club DLLs. This is based off of actual reversing the files to determine what is actually causing this. RDR2 doesn't "preload" shaders, that's not how RDR2 works. The RDR2.exe CRC has not changed, however the SC dlls have, and they're at fault. It is specifically RDR2.exe causing the keyboard input delay after Social Club injects into RDR2 at load time. There's been attempts to forcibly load an older version however there's too many update angles to be bothered with. Unfortunately we'll have to wait for Rockstar to mitigate this. Fortunately it is occurring on GTA as well so they will definitely check into it.

As for "Dropping some knowledge", this has never occurred with any other game that is competent, least of all RDR and GTA prior to the recent Social Club launcher update. This has never happened prior to yesterday's Social Club update; it appears to be a DLL injected at runtime by Social Club and persists throughout. This also affects GTA. There is no "alt-tab" stress, that's ridiculous. Additionally, alt-tabbing during 'fullscreen' simply minimizes the game, it does not switch its configuration in settings. That's also misinformation.

I can not confirm the problem with GTA5, have tried it while trying to find the issue. In my case I have GTA5 installed via the Epic Launcher and RDR2 via Steam.

What you call misinformation is indeed true. I know it doesn’t make any sense and I also didn’t have that happen in another game before. But try it out yourself:
Set the Game to fullscreen mode. It might need a restart. Then Alt+Tab out and the game switches to borderless window. I don‘t know if it has to do with having a second monitor, but in my case the game does exactly that.

You may not but many other friends are having the same issue on GTA as well. This is confirmed in the RDR2 modding community and Discords. To repeat: the issue is with the latest Social Club update, which injects DLLs (dynamic link libraries -- functions that the games use) at runtime (when it loads). This applies to both GTA and RDR2 and it is these DLLs that are causing delayed keyboard input due to their update recently.

The only issue I've seen when I tested for this problem on multiple PCs was some keyboard input delays when using Steam Overlay. It didn't affect other things in Windows such as StartMenu, Search, Chrome, Task Manager....

This goes beyond Steam. It affects even the native Rockstar launcher and EPIC Games. This is, again, related to the Social Club DLLs they've recently changed in the last 2 days. The delayed keyboard input is present in Chrome, Discord, and every other application. It does not affect controller, however. nor does it affect the mouse. This comes from hundreds in the community as well, beyond personal experience.

Unfortunately the only solution is to wait for Rockstar to mitigate this, as they just introduced it.
Well Rockstar obviously changed something yes. But this issue from my experiences had affected GTAV/Online for many years, while it appears to be new issue with RDR2. Overall yes seems something with the SocialClub API or the Launcher. As I never had keyboard input delays in Steam Overlay and Friends Chat like it is right now. However I'm not seeing any issues with alt tabbing out of RDR2 to do other things and having that being a problem. Could be something where the SocialClub Runtime or Launcher is overstepping when it comes to CPU usage on some configuration, thus causing input delays in other OS stuff while said game is running.

Ok folks, one other thing to try.

Go to EXE for files that start with Launcher, Rockstar and SocialClub. Select the option for Disable Full Screen Optimization and see if that does the trick. Very easy to try and also reverse.
Same issue for me, driving me crazy

Made no change in input lag, but worth a try, thanks.
