Epic Client API, why is it neccessary?
I just bought and installed the game, but during the first launch it says it has to install "Epic Client API". What for?

I don't use Epic Games and specifically bought the game on Steam to avoid it, why does it have to download its API even though I'm playing through Steam?

probably for crossplay is my guess.
Could someone explain what exactly is this Epic Client API ? Is it a launcher or something ?
So I will need to install Epic crap into my PC ( which I want to avoid this is why I didn't buy Dead Island 2 on STEAM ) just to play a game OFFLINE that I bought on STEAM ? ?

welp considering you need a rockstar account and you need to sign into it to play any way the epic api for online play should be the least of your worries?

To answer your question, no you don't need to install the epic launcher for this game. As far as "installing" epic crap goes, anytime you play a unreal engine game you install a whole ton of "Epic" crap on your pc my friend :)

I have my own reasons and choice. I don't want an Epic service or whatever running in the background.
Installing game that uses UE Engine is a different thing.

I guess I wouldn't be buying Rockstar games in future.
That's fine though not like they even make games anymore these days honestly.

They are more focus on online GTA and making money off that. I be the same with GTA VI, SP going to be garbage....
All focus and gameplay etc will be most likely Online.

You better stop buying any games then because most contain some form of API to communicate and more will use Epic's API as it enabled cross-play between various store fronts without developers building complicated systems
