How do you get drunk in this game?

The only thing that I have found to get me drunk is aged pirate rum. I have taken drinks from bars and from my inventory and none of them get me drunk. Is this just how it is?

there are numerous alcohols available for purchase at the General Store - Whiskey, Gin, Fine Brandy, etc. - and there are open boxes of beer and alcohol in the camp at night.

You can get drunk from bar drinks and from inventory drinks like moonshine and brandy but you have to drink a lot, especially at bar drinks. The fastest way to get drunk is probably from moonshine which you can buy at your fence
