CPU: Intel Core i9-13900
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
For me is the older version needed to play a older game that runs ok whit it, al new updates after this version whas no succses for me (even on the forum on Nvidia are many complains about the latest drivers)
OS: Windows 11 Home 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 13600KF
RAM: DDR5 32GB
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B760 plus
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
Storage: NVMe SSD
Thank you for your feedback. I'm still puzzled as to why the game crashes, whether by visiting the trapper in Saint Denis or simply standing there for a while. However, I've recorded some benchmark tests. Upon review, it appears that the latest driver delivers the best performance. At this juncture, I'm inclined to believe that the issue lies not with the driver but rather with Rockstar's coding. I'm concerned that considering Rockstar's update history with this game, we may not receive a fix anytime soon. Hopefully, the community can find a solution independently, as relying on them may result in a prolonged wait.

For any RTX 40 series GPU, then 551.86 should be plenty stable.
For RTX 20/30 series I highly recommend staying on 551.23 for now.
However I would recommend that you use the DDU app; run it and change it settings, in the settings tick options to wipe your displays out as well as geforce experience. Do this ONLY after rebooting WinOS into Safe Mode first. After the cleaning, reboot normally. Then first run the Intel Driver Assistant online driver updater and see if updated Chipset Drivers are available for you. If so install these first, reboot when done. Then install NVIDIA Game Ready Driver (and as optional, GFE if you wish). If you do use GFE however, DO NOT use it or enable ANY of its overlays while running RDR2 and DO NOT allow GFE to do an auto "optimize all my games" non-sense. Always do optimize games on a per-game basis.
If your CPU of any kind has an onboard GPU, this can be a problem for both Steam and RDR2. Click StartMenu or press WinLogoKey > type Graphics > click into Graphics Settings > click Browse > add these files to this listing: Steam.exe; PlayRDR2.exe; RDR2.exe ~ Then for each after added, change their Options to High Performance GPU.
If Steam was already running when doing this last part, exit it properly and completely; wait a few seconds after it's fully closed (if unsure it's fully close out all Steam exe stuff; then check Task Manager > Details tab)
MS Defender is not a direct issue with games such as RDR2, however if you use any stricter settings such as Controlled Folders or Core Isolation; those CAN be a problem with MANY games.
Win10/11 default rules already set in place for Firewall are fine as-is; however you have to ensure to double check Windows Network settings that you are set to Private, not Public as THIS is what dictates which Firewall Rules Set gets applied at any given time you are connected to Network/Internet.
Perhaps many of you are also experiencing this error?
