what about the cloud save?
Rjs90 Jun 7, 2024 @ 4:50am
Game can't read the cloud save. It's showing in the game file but always starting a new game.
I have managed get that 2 SRDR files but the game is relentless, showing there's no save files.

i think there is a fix for this, happened to me in GTA 5 and i moved the save file away from its location and the game automatically restored new one from the cloud.
just remember do not delete the save files just move them away to somewhere else because if this not going to fix it then you can move your files back to their original place.

found it :
go to Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Profiles
move the file with random letters and numbers to your Desktop, Move it not copy it.
do it when your game is closed and R* launcher is closed too, then launch the game.

if this fixes your game, then you can delete the file you moved from that location to your Desktop, because the game created a new one and the old one is useless now.

I did something like that, didnt work that way. maybe the problem was I never manually save the games. Im starting from the beginning.
I only managed to get 2 legendary animals in the old save, skipped few valentine heists by mistake. Im able to do it again.
I still got the old SRDR files (moved not copied). but I lost faith and my stress wont let me do potential damages to game files.
thanks for the heads up, if Im in a good mood someday I will follow this method.

You could always simply go to Documents/Rockstargames and make a copy of Rockstargames folder to elsewhere on your computer. Once you have a safe copy go back to Documents/Rockstargames and rename Rockstargames to Rockstargames-old. The next time you load Rockstar Launcher you will have a newly created Rockstargames folder. You can then either keep the Rockstargames-old folder or delete it knowing you have a safe copy stored elsewhere. Everything you need to start from your last saved game is in the Documents/Rockstargames-old/reddeadredemption2 folder. Just copy and paste the files you need. If you periodically do this you don't have to worry about a save file becoming corrupted, you'll always be able to revert to at least where you last did this.

A tip if your interested, since you already started a new game,
you could always download from the Nexus a fresh chapter 2 save and start sorta
where you left off.
Also when you save, create multiple saves, and do it manually,
then at least once a week create a new save
and delete the old ones, then back up the saves to another folder.

How far did you get into the game before it got corrupted?
I know, but I dont wanna accidentally unlock some random achievement which I dont have.

and I took some advice, disabled the rockstar's cloud, saving manually often.
I will store the save files in my local cloud when Ill finish the game.

a power surge cause of thunderstorm made this ruckus, I have a power supply, but it was a high voltage surge so my UPS turned off immediately.
2 days ago, same thing happend. but nothing bad came out of it :)

in my last save, just travelled with dutch to saint denis, went for a cougar hunt for my final satchel.

aahh I think its no biggie, I just travelled a lot and got bad honor from random encounters by mistake. fixed every one of them in this new game.
