Says I dont have enough memory, HELP ME
I've tried every single fix I can find at this point and it still just says that I don't have enough memory to launch the game, I know this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because in the setting it clearly tells me this game should only take up about 1/3 of my 32GB, so I just dont know what to do anymore. Can anyone help me!

Use Vulkan instead of DX12. What GPU do you have? System specs would go a long way in helping you trouble shoot.

What is the exact message, because there are various ones which will narrow down what is the issue.

Things like this have been happening since the September 2022 "update".

I myself on the lowest graphics settings can't play missions I've played before on the highest graphics settings without getting a spurious warning, namely a pop up telling me I'm out of VRAM when I'm clearly not.

I'm going to guess you're using a NVidia card.

use dx 12 in setting, go to C:\Users\**YOUR USER**\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings and delete the files that start with sga . DO NOT DELETE ANY BIN FILES. should help you to play the game for a few hours before it crashes again, rinse and repeat

In the graphic settings, scroll down to advanced, then unlock and you can chose either DX12 or Vulkan as your graphics API.

I've been running Vulkan for years with no issues (Win 10/11)

Switching to Dx12 fixed it, thank you so much man

Yeah, it's weird, even for people with same GPU's different API works better

Glad, you got it sorted.

I see you got it fixed but just out of curiosity, were you starting the game with an overlay loaded, such as MSI Afterburner or Nvidia overlay?
I've gotten that "Out of memory" error when using Afterburner for benchmarks on RDR2
XOLiD May 24, 2024 @ 10:58pm
I only get this error when I try to use DX12 with the Steam overlay enabled. Switching to Vulkan or turning off Steam overlay are the only ways I've found to make it stop.
I have Nvidia 4070 Ti.
