Did they add some power to the Sedative Rounds? Meaning you don't have to shoot the animal 8-10 times to knock it down.

Not that I'm aware. But if 8-10 times I'm assuming there was some lapse between shots in a chase or it was a moose or something.

I sedated a sheep earlier, it took one to the head then two body shots, the rest took a few more as they panicking a bit. Maybe headshots count now?

Needs testing.

Headshots count. It takes far less headshots then body shots to bring something down.

When you look at an animal in dead eye, you should see red spots on it, which are its vital points (e.g. its head or its heart). For normal bullets, that's where you have to shoot the animal for a one-shot, perfect kill to avoid damaging their pelt or carcass. For sedative ammo, that's where it's most effective. So, if you shoot them there, you need fewer shots. You also need fewer shots for smaller animals. That being said, you usually have to unload a ridiculous number of shots into any animal of any real size in order to get it to go down, and it's worse if it's running away. So, a sheep will likely take fewer shots than a cow, and for a deer, it will be highly dependent on how quickly you can hit it. If you get a bunch of shots into it quickly, you can get it to go down quickly; if not, you could be shooting it over and over again as it runs away with it taking several minutes before you manage to get it to go down.

Regardless of the details though, since the only update we've had since the Naturalist update was an update that got reverted a few days later, sedative ammo definitely works the same now as it did when it was first released.

There’s a tranq in online? Shame it isn’t in story, would make a no kill run doable, lol.

It only works on animals that you can hunt, and it takes like 10 bullets to sedate them. It's pretty terrible actually. Either way, it wouldn't make it possible to avoid killing people in story mode. It doesn't even work on horses.

Thanks for the answers! I am an M-K Free aim player and its a pain to chase some of the more nimble animals pumping rounds into (or AT) them while you crash into tree limbs and over ledges.

Oh that’s lame. It would be nice to have a non kill method for eliminating npcs stealthily, without killing them, or for stopping ones you don’t want to kill.

I figured headshots would make a difference lol, so silly.

Having to hit the bigger animals a few times sure, but anything deer sized or smaller should just take one, and then sprint and go down after a while, requiring tracking etc, hitting them multiple times taking them down faster would also be good, but having to pump a rabbit full of so many drugs because you didn't put them directly into its face...

I've gone back to stopping them with 1 bullet and let Cripps or Gus take care of the rest. Lot less running, much more profitable and timely, and no one sprays drugs IN MY FACE!
