Also - they take money they make from videos and buy game stuff with it to keep viewers interested.
Either they're using a cheat tool of some kind, or they are ignoring the fast travel system, and focusing on purchasing the most important things instead of spending frivolously. Though, relatively speaking, it IS possible to build up your cash by doing the trader stuff.... I've already hit 2k in cash in a matter of hours today, and I'm only rank 25 (rank 2 in the trader role). It's just a matter of being persistent with doing the missions for the gold: Bounty Hunting role, and stranger missions, but some honest people consistently repeat the story missions, 'helping' new players, but specifically for the rewards upon completion.
I have 12k in cash and have hardly played since Jan. It's easy to get cash and gold if you put the hours into it. Trader farms cash big time and 50% more right now as well. Collector will as well. Gold is from Daily Challenges, esp once you own all roles. .5 gold each to eat 3 stews, get drunk, play with band, serve drinks, dance, haircut, etc. It's easy to rack up that gold, even just doing select challenges.
True true
15k is farmed but 100k and over is glicher only. I know one youtuber ads glitch for the money.
That's actually a really great idea, even if only for weekly promotions. Submit that idea.

I'm sure they would appreciate ideas for promotions to keep from having to recycle them as often. Same with challenges.
Kick 3 Rabbits is a Daily I want to see. I love chasing and kicking the bunnies.

Extra points if you do it in front of Harriet ;)
Look at their TOTAL playtime hours, that will answer your question
Having 150k cash is harder, but if you've been playing for months and don't spend cash often, it's very feasible. The roles make you a _lot_ more cash than stuff like stranger missions do (e.g. a maxed out trader can make $625 for a long distance delivery), and until the Naturalist update, the online collectors map made it trivial to make thousands of dollars a day just from collecting sets for the collector role (after the update, they're far more randomized, so while getting collectibles isn't harder, completing sets is). People who were spending most of their time just grabbing collectibles were making insane amounts of cash. You had a lot of players spending most of their time just doing "collector runs," and plenty of them are mad about the Naturalist update screwing with that.
Also, if you're watching people who play on consoles, they've had about a year longer to play the game than the PC players, meaning that they've had that much more time to rack up gold and cash.
If you're just starting out, it's pretty hard to make either gold or cash quickly, because it takes time to build up your daily challenge streak, and most of the stuff that makes you good cash requires that you have bought and ranked up roles (which require gold to purchase). Also, you end up spending a lot of your cash early on to buy weapons, upgrades for your camp, items for the roles, etc. So, the game just sucks up cash early on, but once you've gotten most of that stuff, it just starts piling up, since pretty much all you have to spend it on are clothes and consumables (and most consumables don't cost all that much and/or can be obtained pretty easily via looting or crafting).
If you're new to RDO, I suggest that you read the info on reddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedDeadOnline/comments/casmw6/red_dead_online_player_guide_new_players/
Also, while they're not necessarily useful right now, you'll want to read this on bounty hunting:

and this on trader: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedDeadTraders/comments/dev0dr/red_dead_online_trader_role_materials_value_list/
The online collector's map is here: https://github.com/jeanropke/RDR2CollectorsMap/wiki/RDO-Collectors-Map-User-Guide-(English)
So, those resources should help you figure out more about what's going on as well as how to earn XP, cash, and gold more efficiently.
