I'm so sick of this !
I keep doing a mission where me an saddie have to save jhon I beat the mission then the game crashes on the ride back and it wont save . WTF ! Red Dead Redemption 2 is six years old ! Why is this game still crashing ? They have the nerve to sell you a game for $40-$60 but can't even get it stable enough to work on most systems. I can run any game at ultra settings with no issues but every now an then some old game will crash and crash and crash because its so poorly optimized. This is a bug because it only happens with this game and it's happening in the same damn spot .

It's so stupid. Devs need to test games before releasing them ! So far game companies have gotten away with selling us unfinished , broken games with cut content later patched in as DLC for ridiculous price points . Enough already either sell me a fixed game that doesn't crash or drop the price of a new game to $10 or something . If i pay you $60-$100 for a game i expect it to actually work ! This is bigger than rockstar ! Gaming as a whole has gone downhill and I'm tired of my game not working . This rarely happens to me but when it does it pisses me off !

Try verifying game files

Never had this issue happen to me personally, game runs like a dream.

Hopefully your issue can be fixed by a file integrity check.

Are you running any modifications, etc, etc? This could be an issue too, but good advice from SHADOW2KK to do a file integrity check on steam for the game.

I would like to inform you both that I have tried over 19 fixes as well as spending 3 days to fix issues on my end via my PC. I ran tests to check my hardware : gpu , cpu, ram , MOBO, HDD ,and ssd as well as power supply . I then checked my OS , reinstalled my OS and even ran things like SFC , DISM, Verified the integrity of the cache and even ran dskchk which was the solution for last time this happened . My PC is fine as i can play other stuff just fine. This game is just buggy. I deleted that data folder in documents and got rid of files that start with sga that one article told me to delete and i just went ahead and deleted my saves and loaded them from the cloud then the game started working again.

No i don't have any mods but like I've told many others who insist its my PC. RDR2 is just a buggy mess. Look .... I ranked even as of today... RDR2 to be an SSS+ tier game in my eyes . It's just buggy sometimes and i have to restart or delete some shader file via a tip on the net just to fix it. Nobody should have to do this but that's the world of gaming we live in as of today.

Western games are like this but funny enough... Japanese games from the east don't have these many issues . Kingdom hearts 3 ran perfectly without a single bug . Many other eastern games just work with minimal , or no bugs . Every western game is buggy and half playable until some modding community or random tips come along to fix an issue. I should not have to delete shaders and my save files just to play a game.

Yes, the game runs like crap. It crashed a lot for me too. The only thing that seemed to help me was installing an old Nvidia driver and using that until I finished the game. It still crashed to desktop some, but not nearly as much. We had some big long threads on here about it when I was playing this game. Assassin's Creed Valhalla im playing now has a similar crash to desktop in it too. Im dealing with that now, and using an old driver is the only thing that helps there too.

I have fairly good PC hardware too: I9 CPU, rtx 30080ti, and 64 GB RAM. 900 watt PSU. I built the PC years ago too, so at the time it was top notch. This game is much older.

I'll be starting AC odyssey next as I'm a huge AC fan that likes to find everything and i usually play 3 of them in a row then take a break before the next 3. At least any CTD with AC has already been worked out and you can just try one or two fixes and get it up in running . This games feel like rolling dice . I had floating pedestrians, guns that stick to hands , invisible horses and a freaking upside down mountain.
I find a lot of games from steam ae more buggyer the n on Xbox. This one and a few others it seems
Ruckus Mar 5, 2024 @ 7:04am
I went to documents, rockstar, red dead 2, settings and deleted everything (all bin files and SGA files) except system.xlm. Those files will be renewed and the cache reset.

Are you running Vulkan or Dx12?

Dx12 by default because my card is a Dx12 card. I can run vulkan because its amd as well with no difference . I've tried both and it has no effect either way.
