I went and got the free Adalusian and it's been great ever since.
I'm saying this because I've found that a horse's stats mean nothing, staying in the saddle is much more Important.
Other thing to keep in mind is that mustang wasn't and still isn't a standardized breed. So many horses in the game could be mustangs. Also pretty much any horse that is roaming the game wild is a "mustang" using a definition of mustang being an American feral horse. And since many of the freely roaming horses in the game are "Tennessee Walkers" then Arthur's horse from a prologue could be considered one as well.
This horse is also technically a "Tennessee Walker" but it is a special one, as you can get her only by rescuing from Murfree Brood during one of the encounters. Not exactly a mustang, still a nice horse, especially considering how you get her:
