cannot start??? ERR_GFX_STATE when i try
ok i??? have literally tried everything. every time i go to open the game, it opens to a black screen and then theres a pop up that says ERR GFX STATE, reboot and restart game. so i do that and it does nothing. ive tried opening from both steam and rockstar. sometimes it'll say theres already a game open when there definitely isnt. so i've done a clean reset of rockstar, i've restarted my computer, updated my driver, updated my computer, verified file integrity, uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game, deleted sga files, deleted the entire settings folder and deleted system. xml files. rockstar support has been of no help and literally could not give me anything else to try. please help i just want to be a silly cowboy :,)

figured it out! had to disable vulkan.
go to Documents\Rockstar Games\Read Dead Redemption 2\Settings\system.xml .

<API>kSettingAPI_Vulkan</API>
<locked value="true" />
needs to be changed to
<API>kSettingAPI_DX12</API>
<locked value="false" />

if the file doesn't exist, here's the coding. save it as a text file and add it into the settings folder (or a new settings folder) under documents\rockstar games\red dead redemption 2. the coding pasted here already has the fix added.
