Is the game meant to be this blurry at 1080p?
My settings are a mix of medium, high and ultra. Textures are ultra yet the game is blurry to absolute ♥♥♥♥, DX12 is what I use since it legit looks sharper than Vulkan for me despite giving less fps.

I have TAA on high, which is probably the cause for the blur but with it on medium it’s still pretty blurry and gives me strange white artifacting around Arthur’s hair, and turning it off just makes the game way too jaggy.

MSAAx2 isnt of much help and x4 butchers performance, FXAA does ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and resolution scaling also slaughters fps.

Literally no other game I’ve played does this ♥♥♥♥ at 1080p even with TAA, even GTAV is more pleasing to look at right now.

Is the console version really this blurry at 1080p? Is there any solution to this or has Rockstar addressed this? I really wanna enjoy the game without getting a headache.

I believe i had that issue in GTA 5, and it had something to do with a setting in resolution scaling if memory serves correctly.

What I would do, it reset to defaults first. Next would be setting the preset to high, then run the benchmark test and view the results.

Be wary of the resolution scaling setting. This setting can lead to really blurry looking graphics that look horrid. If you wish to learn more about that particular setting, google it. It's how I solved the problem I was having.

Also, leave it on vulcan until you get rid of the blurry texture issue.

Next, mess with your anti-aliasing settings to see what works best. I would even turn them all off to start with.

Last, fiddle with other settings if you wish.

I hope that helps. GTA 5 has a similar engine, and the resolution scaling option is the only thing that ever gave me blurry weirdness. I run a geoforce 2080 if that matters to you for comparison. I have the game running mostly ultra settings, and haven't had any issues.

The last thing i would try is a clean install of video drivers. It's possible they got messed up somehow.
what he said "resolution scaling" does lead to blurry gameplay

I believe my resolution scaling is set to off, but i’ll definetely try putting the settings on default then high. Thank you for the reply, hopefully this fixes the blur.

May I ask what your other graphic settings are?

It's TAA causing the blur, it's literally its job. Either disable TAA or play with the sharpening. I have my sharpening about 2/3rds up the bar and it's not blurry at all.

My TAA sharpening is maxed out, do you use medium or high TAA?

Medium.

These are my settings:

Sorry TAA sharpening is about halfway up the bar.

Here's what the game looks like for me at those settings.

Not sure if any of this will help you. But I remember the game looking pretty blurry when I first started playing.

TAA causes a softer image at lower resolutions. Only way for the game to look sharper is to play at 1440p or higher.

Thank you for posting these, just to make sure are you playing on 1080p and is your API Vulkan or DX12?

No, I'm playing at 1440p, but I had the same blur issue eveyone had when I started. I'm using DX12 because the performance on Vulcan was awful on this game for me. D12 is running perfectly.

Oh alright, my game’s still blurry so I guess it’s just 1080p, big rip.

Not sure what GPU you have, but even with a 1080p monitor, you can still use downsampling to internally render the image at 1440p.

If you're on Nvidia, you can just use DSR.

I just woke up. I'll check the settings in a moment, and post it for you.

This is the only thing to cause "blurryness"

I looked at my settings, and resolution scaling is set to off. TAA sharpening is set to about one quarter of the bar.

If I turn on resolution scaling, it starts to blur things, especially on wood planks on a bridge, for example.

I offered the best advice I could. I'm sorry if it might not have helped.

The idea, though, is a process of elimination. Change one logical setting and run the benchmark until you find out which is the culprit.

Unfortunately, most everyone's hardware is slightly different. My settings may not work for you.

One thing did happen to me last night while I was playing. An interior of a building turned all blue, and I could see through the planet. It was really crazy. It only went away after i exitted the game, and reloaded.

Oh the wonders of modern technology. You wish you could fix it with a hammer, like how things used to be lol. With this stuff working like it seems for roughly half the time, they expect us to believe self driving cars will be perfectly safe.
