Might be best to go to the Rockstar Website and this seems to give you more info to make an informed decision .. at the price it is now .. its almost as if just go ahead and take the plunge...

yeah cuz you can't upgrade if you buy the standard and ultimate gives you some extra stuff that should have imho been included in the base game.

If you have the extra cash I'd go for it. If only because the UE is selling at 1/3rd of the price of what the base game was on release.
Is it needed? I don't think so. It's just a quick way for some free stuff in the beginning of CH.2. however if you know where to look you can get equivalent or better stuff that is all available early in CH.2.
