i need help with resetting game files
so i accidentally installed a mod a while back for rdr2 story and no longer need it (the vr mod) because i dont plan on setting up the whole thing. is there a way i can revert all the files back to normal, meaning deleting the mod files and going back to the base game?

You can 'clean' the folder by comparing to a vanilla screenshot - if it isn't in the screenshot- I'd delete it. Verify files afterwards to fix mistakes.

Can also just turn on file extensions, show hidden files, etc - and delete any FILE that is NOT a .RPF --- and any FOLDER that is NOT --- 12on7, redistributables, or x64.
Verify game files after.

May also want to go to my docs / rockstar games / red dead redemption 2 / settings and delete the system.xml file (or rename it). VR mod may have modified this depending how far you actually went while installing it / how you installed it. If you only dropped files into the rdr2 folder - likely not necessary.

*Of note - if startup.meta was used/in use --- Red Dead Redemption 2 \ x64 \ Data
The file is used for private RDO lobbies / 'password' entry at bottom.

If you don't wanna do that - you can just delete everything... EVERYTHING... and verify files. Expect a 100+gb redownload though - that was largely unnecessary.

[If you don't wanna do that - you can just delete everything... EVERYTHING... and verify files. Expect a 100+gb redownload though - that was largely unnecessary.] so i could reinstall after deleting ALL files and they are reset?
by this do you mean delete the files then verify them?

So what exactly is the actual problem 'now'?
Your game folder is 100% clean?
You nuked the system.xml file?
What else is the issue?
