Absolutely worth it at 20 dollars, even someone as stingy as me would say it's worth full price. It's definitely earned the high praise.
The controls are ASS though, and you'll probably encounter rage quit worthy moments so make sure you're prepared to overcome that if you pick it up.
I've been 100% playing with mouse and keyboard, actually. I was trying to figure out what worked best and settled on it, even though it was made for a controller i feel like it works best.
I don't really know too many good western games and it kinda seems like there aren't too many in the first place, but GUN on an emulator or Red Dead 1 seem like pretty good options.
Apparently there's a western mod for Mount and Blade Warband, build up a team of cowboys and wipe out other factions basically.
$20-30 is excellent value imo. I currently am on my third playthrough with over 300 hours, and I am not done with this game yet. That is an efficiency currently of ~1 USD per 10 hours, which it only will get more efficient from there. (And one playthrough should satisfy more than 100 hours from my experience, assuming you do side missions and the hunting and stuff, even if replayability isn’t your thing). Which is excellent compared to a movie for example, which may demand $10+ for a 3 hour story, rounding to its favor. Which imho, opinions may change on this, but I think its story is as good as a good movie’s story, and you are the main character being an interactive video game.
Essentially, if you play the game and you like it, 20-30 for it is an absolute bargain.
If you end up not liking it, tbh I still would say all the exploring and hunting and stuff you can do even early game if you don’t complete it still isn’t a terribly bad deal.
ZERO because the oniline story missions you have to have another online player with you because some of the missions require 2 or more so if you have a server that is private with no hackers ya can't do the missions they should have bots but they are to stupid to have bots and they do not care about the customers
OFFLINE Story mission is fantastic but not perfect but great my big peeve is they say the Lord's name in vain a lot they take the Lord's name in vain and so what I do is turn off the subtitles and mute the sound when I do many missions when traveling with others this is when it often happens ... when ya redo the story ya can skip some scenes but not all of them so this gets tedious when ya do a restart or redo ya can't skip many of the loooong riding scenes of the story missions ..
The key though is to not rush through and do the story missions just ride around and do stuff and experience all kinds of stuff and every once in a while do another story mission...
Oh and save often !!!! Such as ANY TIME you do something you like .... while riding around ...
