So what WAS Dutch's plan?
I know it's meme material, but in all seriousness, it seems like he never really had a TRUE PLAN laid out. I mean, the gang seemed to be winging it from Chapter 2-4. In Chapter 5, robbing the St. Dennis Bank would have seemed reasonable, IF he hadn't stirred ♥♥♥♥ up with Bronte and STILL decided on the job, regardless of how much attention they got. Him hitting his head in the trolley mission and getting a TBI seems like a "cop-out".

He was already aggressive towards anyone doubting and judging his plans before then. In fact, the ONLY thing he could ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ say in Chapter 6 is how much of a "plan" he has, and that people should just trust him. So what IS the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ plan then, Dutch?! Cause it seems to me like robbing the army train was a last minute decision that he decided on when he learned of the Army's involvement with the Wapiti tribe.

Even if that WAS a long-term plan, he sure as hell wasn't sharing it with the rest of the gang until the last second. Even then, despite most of the game splitting apart, and Micah going his own way, he still had Bill and Javier who were loyal. Now, RDR1 showed us how "well" THAT worked out. So those two went their own way as well. In RDR1, Dutch seems to just run with what looks like the Skinner gang based on this game.

So what? His ultimate plan was just to keep robbing, killing, and torturing? I mean, if he EVER had any "higher aspirations" than what Colm's or the other gangs did, it sure as hell didn't happen after Chapter 6. He was successful with the robbery. He GOT the score. He technically could have went to New York or Chicago, IF that was ever his plan.

Seems to me, those places were about as realistic as "Tahiti". He cared about going straight about as well as actually paying attention to Evelyn Miller's book and not just cherry picking the parts that suited him. To think, Hosea, Lenny, Molly, Grimshaw, Sean, Kieran, and even Arthur. They ALL died for NOTHING.

Look at RDR1, set in 1911 -- 12 years after RDR2. Dutch is still around, and still organizing vulnerable people to commit crimes that benefit him. All talk of a grand plan to escape is BS that he uses to convince gang members to do what benefits him at any given time.

He was clearly winging it through most of RDR2, as you've noted. He was always winging it. He doesn't actually care about the people underneath him. He was always in it for himself.
