in terms of the games release red dead redemption came out first and red dead redemption 2 obviously came out second. chronologically in terms of the events ,the setting of the game. rdr2 story is a prequal to rdr. so you may want to play rdr2 first. it would work out just fine.
definately play rdr 1 aswell. play both. regardless of what order you do it.
note. a fair warning for rdr2 online. its full of hackers and cheaters. single player awesome though.
Playing RDR1 first would honestly spoil the story. Play 1 after 2.
i'm sure it does, haven't even played the first game but if you would've play it before RDR2 you would know that John, Abigail, Jack, Uncle and Dutch will never die because they show up in RDR1 Dutch's betrayal is probably mentioned in there, after all he's the antagonist of RDR1, as said I have to play the first game yet but Micah is most likely mentioned in there too and his cooperation with Pinkertons, and of course you would know how the epilogue of RDR2 ends some other stuff might be mentioned there too idk but to say it spoils nothing is just a lie
