Edit the system.xml and change it back. Might be somewhere in here -
home\deck\.local\share\Steam\steamapps\compatdata\1174180\pfx\drive_c
Could also rename or delete it and let it make a new one.

edit - possibly related (I've no steamdeck to test with) -
https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/wqnzh1/homedeck_folder_hidden_in_steam_desktop_apps_file/
or could just be hidden.

I’ll click on home then deck and I’ll have options like desktop, documents, etc. but almost all of them are empty and desktop only tried to open the file

That did not help either. I can’t access the local files for the life of me

Ok I’m sorry I’m just not great with this stuff. Once I’m there what exactly should I be looking for? I can find files named Vulkan but nothing about DX12 and idk where I’d rename or delete to fix

/home/deck/Desktop/file:⁄⁄⁄home⁄deck⁄.local⁄share⁄Steam⁄steamapps⁄compatdata⁄/1174180/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/Rockstar Games/Red Dead Redemption 2/Settings/

Should find system.xml - edit to change, or, delete system.xml to regen a new one.

editting-
open system.xml and find -
<API>kSettingAPI_DX12</API>
replace with -
<API>kSettingAPI_Vulkan</API>
save.
