Steam Deck Install with Rockstar Launcher question

I own RDR2 on the Rockstar Launcher. I added the Launcher to my Steam library, everything works great. The guide I followed added only the RockstarLauncher.exe to my Steam Library instead of RDR2.exe. My question is, do I need to keep opening the game through the Launcher through my Steam Library in order for Rockstar's cloud save to function, or am I able to simply add RDR2.exe as a non Steam game?

I'll be playing this between my PC and Steam deck so the cloud saves have to work.
