Exactly, anyone concerned can literally upload the file to any of the numerous online free virus checker/file analyzer sites, it gets a clean check at every one I've tried, but no need to take our word for it, check it yourself if you have concerns.
Again, it's nothing but a simple text config file that directs the game interface to create a private, p/w protected lobby, you can read it yourself with any text editor.
By safe I don't think they mean a virus. As it's just a text file and you do not download anything, you copy and paste the text and make your own file yourself. Something a child can do
By safe maybe they thinking it counts as a mod that can get you banned. No it doesn't count as a mod and can't get you banned.
Tried to escape from cheaters and got fked for that move, Cockstar forever
I've used it for over a year, and even had R* restore my account after the email was hijacked and changed last month, with that file present, and they had no problem with it.
So again, whatever caused that ban, it wasn't that file.
My guess is the script kiddies have figured out a way to spoof accounts and get others banned for what they themselves are doing; these random bans seem to have started about a week or 2 ago, right after the wave of email hijackings that happened last month. It's far more likely considering what a ripe target peer-to-peer connections are . . .
Why it's so difficult for Rockatar to detect the actual accounts using those cheat trainers I'll never understand
I don't need nexus mod downloaded to make it work, do I?
Double check "their" file with mine please.
I linked it from pastebin text sharing on my Steam Profile (scroll to bottom) in the 1st Page of Comments; where it says > RDR2 / RDO - Private Session (startup.meta)
And when playing this way with friends; let one of the players get into their RDO session first; so the HOST is established (the player with the unique password); once you are in RDO, then let the other friends know and have them join RDO.
Usually it's best to spawn into RDO using the "Camp" option. So you spawn into the last place you made a home base camp. From there you can easily Fast Travel if you've purchased that for your addon. Or go to a town or train station and fast travel.
Above all, if you have a bunch of friends using the same meta file & password so you can all be in same session; again one of those players should get on first, then give the OK to the others. Otherwise if you all jump on at around the same time it might end up making a solo session for each player, since there was no such Host for RDO to find and thus join.
its so crazy to think that some are worried about getting banned for something that rockstar could have easily implemented into the game but won't ban hackers and will just let them run rampant lol
Do they need to make their own meta file with the same password or can I just email them the one I made? Because for some reason I still can't seem to get in the same session as them
If one character is off or missing above where you put your session password, it won't work as far as people joining together in same session. I had a couple people doing this where we tried to join together and come to find out, their file had some slightly different or missing code in the file somehow. So it appeared to work but it was making each of us be in our own session as a result.
Yes emailing it would be fine but they need to ensure they put it in the correct folder as well.
Also ensure before you share the file, that it is not still a .TXT file.
.TXT file extension needs to be changed to .META
So the entire file name is STARTUP.META
Not STARTUP.META.TXT
Make sure you unhide file extensions in WinOS so you can always see those; such as .txt .bat .meta .exe ~ Etc.
The file then needs to be put into here:
\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Dead Redemption 2\x64\data
Then launch the game. You can not do this while the game is running because it can only view and load the file during game startup/launch process.
So for example if the user wants to go back into public sessions again, exit the game, move the startup.meta file out of that folder. Then launch the game again.
I have used it every single day for at least fifteen months without issue.
When my pal's log in it's an absolute pleasure to see them again.
Even today you don't walk through your local high street in real life and talk to anyone.
Why should a game be any different?
You can enjoy the world by yourself or with friends, all you need is like minded friends.
Here's a couple of screenshots from today using this file -
