You Can Still Smell The Air Even Now.
The game mechanics and the story for the purposes of this thread are immaterial and irrelevant.

But mates, I'm sixty one years old and could go night fishing and exploring in London as a twelve or thirteen year old back in the nineteen seventies by myself or with my mates with no real danger felt by myself, my mates or our parents.

Every so often we as young kids went exploring far from our concrete upbringing to night fish in places that were fabled and we'd only heard of, we didn't pay the fare to get there, we bunked it, we didn't even know if they existed, we were explorers and great fishermen, we were kids.

But to walk through these differing woods and meadows as mini explorers through the night or in the very early hours with different lights and different animals and different sounds with differing weather seen and heard by us children for the first time will never leave me.

To walk and explore the world of RDR takes me right back, I can almost smell it.

What's your take on the world, not the game, just the world.

World looks good, some areas remind me of where I live in the Sierra-Nevada region, people fly fishing in the middle of ice cold rivers

I'm sixty two and I grew up in a village just outside Bolton, the Irwell Valley was my playground. Back then in the 60s, it was nature blighted by the heavy industry of the dying industrial revolution. Abandoned mills, old rusting machinery, canals with rotting barges and all at odds with beautiful nature. We kids didn't know it at the time but we were living an idyllic childhood.
I too am sometimes reminded of the smells and sensations of nature when playing rdr2.

There's another great point.

That too is well represented by the knackers yard and the bone mountain found just outside of St Denis, along with the contaminated water and the mangy animals found locally.

In the early and mid eighties when carp fishing was just getting going I'd go all over the country to catch a big carp. (They make films of these things nowadays).

I don't remember the name of the lake but it was near Stanstead airport if I remember rightly.

I don't recall the fishing either but I recall the smell because there was a knackers yard nearby with a bone mountain, there may still be.

I can still almost smell it just outside St Denis every time I pass.

I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not.

But that aside.

Tell us of your views of the world of RDR, not the game, just the world.

Cheers.

Well to me i love the game & the scenery of the Mountains & makes me wonder how it would have been if i was born in the time of the Cowboys, free to Roam around & explore as well as live off of the Land as well as other things i would do & no not go look for trouble unless trouble comes looking for me then i'd.....the rest is obvious.

Btw Man o' War, there is a Saying "Your never to old to have fun", it's been known for ages i believe.

I am 67 and was born and raised in Kentucky hunting and fishing with my father. I, of course grew up in the heyday of both movie and especially television westerns, so this game hits home with me. My online character is a younger version of myself and this game takes me back! After a stressful day at work I love a nice Cinematic Mode horseback ride on some mission.

It's all good mate, it was very late for me and upon re-reading I realise my error and apologise.

Just look at the ages of the posters.

Who'd have known?

Great game, great world.

It's easier to get to these digital wildlands than the ones 2 hours driving away from me. Someday I might move out from the middle of the city and actually enjoy walking outside again. Alas, it's the only life I've ever known outside of vacations. Concrete and big, angry cars making far too much noise.

62 years old, grew up in the burbs but in easy walking distance of farmland & woods.
Farmland just on the other side of the fence in my backyard. lol, yep, that close!
Fishing holes everywhere, live in the great lakes region so water everywhere be it creeks, streams, rivers, lakes or ponds. Grew up fishing and hunting and just being out in the great outdoors

Many of the sights in this game I've actually seen either in person or via pictures, documentaries films etc. Some may not realize it, but all the towns & cities in game are based on some very real places in the USA. As well as natural rock formations.

Almost makes me want to sell my house and buy a motor home & travel to many of those sights I've never been too. Real world then kicks in and tells me I can't really afford to do that, be nice though.

pure gta in wild west textures
playing this game as new player in 2023 and can't understand why you all guys so admired of regular game about wild west.
Graphics is good. Story line is more than regular "I'm gang member and we're on the run and need to survive", just wow! Such a story, just wooooow! Let's throw away all classic literature, we have pure masterpiece from rockstar he-he! No.

Maybe Rdr2 would impress me If i was a teenager, but as grown up old school gamer i need from 5 to 20 minutes to understand whole game and understand what will happen next in general.
i'm no sad about game and i told that game has too much hype, but in the end it's just another one gta'like game but in wild west. No matter what game you do, but if you're Take Two, all your games will be gta'like
