No more Rockstar/digital Games
RANT BEGIN

Up to 2017 I was using msn/hotmail for email as I delayed having a smart phone as long as possible. 2017 and I could not put it off any longer, now required to have smart phone for modern living & moving. New smart phone is Android which is Gmail, no more hotmail/msn.
I managed to switch nearly all my accounts over to gmail but not 100% (im not a robot). Companies started deactivating older unused email accounts which I am not able to access anymore. The email I changed over to both Steam and Microsoft use is fine and the previous email for Microsoft is tied into the new email but unable to receive any email from anyone but Microsoft. Rockstar is under that old account and I cant get access to ANY of my Rockstar games now (GTA IV, GTA V, LA NOIRE, RDR2, ETC, ETC).
I was playing just fine last fall but now I cant. I try to make a new account but am told I need to use the old email account which Steam has but it is the one steam has so i cant play no matter what, not even offline mode. Ironically I can't even purchase the game again on Steam! HAHAHA WTF!!

Goodbye Rockstar and Goodbye products you don't own.

I've heard that Steam now does this as well. Haven't logged online in awhile? DEACTIVATED until you have internet connection again!

This industry has and is changing but not for the betterment of the consumer.
The FTC recognized that but were defeated. $69 billion walks & talks, wines & dines.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/usage-rules-for-digital-goods-rules-83812b1f-1ecd-9a46-d3a7-ad1eadce49d1

"You may lose access to or capabilities of Digital Goods, or have the nature of your access changed (e.g., lose family access, if any), if:

(a) you violate the Terms or these Rules,

(b) you use or try to use Digital Goods in a manner inconsistent with the Terms, these Rules, or the limited license granted to you,

(c) you circumvent, or try to circumvent, any technical measures designed to limit access or enforce license limitations,

(d) you fail to pay a recurring subscription fee,

(e) you fail to maintain a current payment method for your account,

(f) you change your country or region,

(g) you fail to maintain a current email address associated with your account,

(h) you fail to log into a given Service sufficiently frequently to refresh your Digital Goods electronic licenses as described in the Additional Service-Specific Rules below,

(i) we cancel or terminate the applicable Service or cease supporting the applicable device, or

(j) we lose our rights to continue to distribute the Digital Good to you, or to distribute it to you in the same manner. Except as may be permitted below, you may not transfer or resell any licenses to any Digital Goods. If you sell any device containing Digital Goods, the purchaser will not acquire any right to use the Digital Goods. We may use technologies to verify your compliance with these Rules."

So I guess after 30+ years of gaming this is me saying goodbye to new games on platforms I cant trust. I'm now buying every generation of Xbox just to play offline and never plug them in to the internet.
Enjoy the "Adorable All Digital Series X" that you own nothing on & will be taken away from you at some point. Enjoy the PC games that are tailored to the hardware of the current console generation (16Gb GPU's or bust). Enjoy the Online Only Single Player game. Enjoy the Eco System you must remain loyal to. Enjoy the Social Club forced on you.

I'm off to enjoy retirement and leave this out of control, anti-consumer, industry of insanity & madness behind.

Rant over.

Yeah I want to enjoy this but the rockstar online system is just complete borked and so I basically threw away 60 bucks. And its allowed because they say it is. If you actually read the EULA closely they reserve the right to do literally anything they want. In fact the way I read it they can sell your personal information even though in some sections they claim they wont, but they reserve the right to.
I hate modern game companies. They're so concerned with protecting themselves they put video games in second place. A very distant second.

Could contact R*, jump through hoops and they'll change email to one you can access -

They told you to use the 'old email' because that is what logs into the 'linked' social club account that contains the single use - nontransferable keys, etc etc.

Enjoy your retirement. As for the rest: when I retire - I'll be going the route of ignoring any game that requires a login/account, constant internet, no offline play, etc. Simply won't be feasible and/or a pure annoyance. No time for that - then.
